This month ASSET is organizing an interactive session on “Thinking
Critically About Social Issues”. The
details are as follows:
About the Session:
In this interactive workshop, participants will review the concepts of
citizenship, human rights and social dilemmas. They will examine some rights
and responsibilities of citizens and the controversies that arise when people
have different opinions about social issues.
The workshop will employ group discussion and activities that can be
taken back to classrooms.

Facilitator’s Profile
Anika Khan works as Senior Lecturer at the Centre of
Biomedical Ethics and Culture (CBEC), SIUT. She has a Master in Bioethics and
is involved in promoting ethics education and critical thinking skills in
schools in Karachi. She also holds a diploma in remedial teaching and
assessment of children with specific learning disabilities. Her background
since 1996 has been in education and before joining CBEC in 2012, she was a
faculty member at READ, Karachi. Currently, she is visiting faculty at READ and
Ziauddin College of Speech Language Therapy (ZCSLT) where she conducts courses
on learning disabilities for teachers. Anika conducts workshops and sessions on
ethics education and mainstream as well as remedial teaching methodologies for
schools as well as the general public.
