ASSET Session on Pakistani movie "Chambaili: The Fragrance of Freedomon" on Saturday, September 28, 2013

Dear Member,

 In connection to our previous session on Understanding Citizenship and Citizenship in Education, in this month we are going to have an interactive session on Pakistani movie Chambaili: The Fragrance of Freedom. The movie revolves around politics, political parties, violation of democratic values and fundamental rights, and in this scenario shows a story of Hope, Courage and Optimism and efforts towards positive change.

The movie gives much thought to reflect on the content standards of civics i.e. citizenship, governance and democracy. The interactive session on content standards will help participants to implement them in their teaching, moreover, inculcating values of citizenship among their students.

Topic:  The Place of Emotional Intelligence in the Classroom

At the beginning of the 21st century, the education of many children and young people around the world is compromised by conditions and behaviors that undermine the physical and emotional well-being that makes learning possible.

When Emotional Intelligence is embedded in classrooms, the relationship between learners and teachers is transformed, problem solving becomes commonplace, diversity is respected and valued,   and democracy and teamwork flourish.  Teacher  face  enormous challenges meeting both the  academic  and  emotional  needs  of their learners  in  the  classroom.  Therefore, the workshop exclusively focused the impact of emotional Intelligence on learners, and its relationship with learning environment.

Mrs. Shahnila Sami is a Senior Academic Advisor at Danish Publication. She had done M. Phil in education and has been in education field for more than 15 years where she has extensively worked with reputable organizations as a Vice Principal, Academic Coordinator, Teacher Educator and Trainer for School Leaders. She   has conducted   many   training   sessions   for   school leaders and teachers. She has also been giving consultancy to different educational projects.

Being an Emotional Intelligent Leader

Theory of emotional intelligence has become wide spread at workplace. Realizing its importance SHADE, PTAN is delighted to announce a session on “Being an emotional intelligent leader” which is particularly aimed for school heads. The session will aware school heads about the theory of Emotional Intelligence and its importance. It will also facilitate them to reflect on their existing practices and discuss how they can make it better by using their emotional intelligence which is vital to become a successful leader.

Facilitator’s Profile:

Ms. Husna Arif has attained double Masters from University of London, UK in Teaching and Muslim Societies & Civilization. She has been in the field of education for more than 12 years where she has extensively worked with reputable organizations as teacher, teacher educator and trainer for school leaders. She has conducted many training sessions for school leaders on Monitoring & Evaluation, Strategic Planning and Development of School Plans. As a Teacher Educator, she has facilitated sessions on various topics such as emotional intelligence, bloom taxonomy, activity based teaching on different subjects, assessment methods, learning styles etc.  Currently, she is associated with Ismaili Tariqah & Religious Education Board for Pakistan (ITREB, P) as an Educator.
