APT Workshop

Topic: “Celebrating Children's Achievement: The Key to Learning.” Part 2

This month’s academic session is a follow up of the previous session on “Celebrating Children’s Achievement: The Key to Learning”. Hence we request that the same teachers be sent this month as well as in the month of November. Please refer to the letter sent last month. We hope that the teachers would bring with them the task that they had committed to accomplish.

For quality assurance we would only be able to accommodate not more than 25 teachers and therefore request you to nominate the same teachers for these sessions. All confirmations will be based on first come basis and will be closed on October 24, 2007.

SAP Poster Competition

Dear Colleague,

United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) celebrates 10th November every year as the World Science Day for Peace and Development (WSDPD) to reaffirm - in the words of the UN Charter - the crucial contribution of science to the promotion of “social progress and better standards of life in larger freedom”. The Day is an occasion to remind the UNESCO's mandate and commitment on science.

In this regard, on Saturday November 10, 2007, SAP is organizing a poster competition at 8:30 am for the students of grade X to be held at the Aga Khan University - Institute for Educational Development (AKU-IED), Karachi.
We cordially invite your respected institution to send a team of two students to participate in the event. The team could be accompanied by a science teacher or any other representative from the institution.

In the poster competition, the students will be provided with a reading material in relation with the ‘Role of Science in Peace and Development’ which they first have to read and comprehend and then develop a poster portraying their understanding, ideas and thoughts in relation with the topic. The winners would be awarded with the certificates of ranks.

(Note: Students are required to bring pencils, eraser, sharpener, ruler, markers, colour pencils, crayon, and oil pastels. Charts papers would be provided).

Please fill the attached registration form and send it along with Fee Rs. 300/- (Cash or Pay – Order) in the name of AKU-IED to Mr. Farhan Jiwani or Mr. Aniq Amin at PTAN Office by November 1, 2007.

SHADE "School Improvement Programme"

Dear Colleague,

SHADE organized a workshop in the month of September on “Critical Thinking and Reflective Practice”. This was organized to facilitate headteachers who are interested in School Improvement Programme to work in this area in their respective schools. Therefore SHADE would appreciate if you are willing to volunteer for School Improvement Programme and work in the area of “Critical Thinking and Reflective Practice”.

Please let us know by return mail or phone if you are willing to take part in the School Improvement Programme organized by SHADE. Once we have your decision SHADE will call meeting of the schools heads in this connection.
