ASSET Summer Session on “Teaching Social Studies in Globalizing World”, June 8-9, 2012
Dear Members,
It is a pleasure to inform you that ASSET is organizing a 2 day summer session in the month of June 2012 titled “Teaching Social Studies in Globalizing World”.
Study of society forms the key basis for social studies teaching. In the context of globalization, the world has become a “global village” whereby different cultures and societies are coming into contact with each other. The resultant contact is influencing the very nature and characteristics of the society in which we live. If the nature of society is changing due to globalization, how could social studies curriculum and teaching may respond to that change? How can we make social studies curriculum and teaching relevant for globalizing world? These are some of the questions which this short course will explore.
