ASSET session on Breaking the Code The DNA of History by KHURRAM ALI SHAFIQUE

Dear Member,

It is a pleasure to inform you that ASSET is organizing its three day summer session in the month of July. The details of the session are as follows:

Topic of the Session: Breaking the Code The DNA of History
Resource Person: KHURRAM ALI SHAFIQUE
Award-Winning Author of Iqbal: an Illustrated Biography

“Your creation and resurrection are like the creation and resurrection of a single soul.” The Quran
“One who cannot draw on three thousand years is living hand to mouth.” Johann Wolfgang Goethe

We know that learning is easy if we aim at acquiring maximum knowledge with minimum effort. Teachers and learners are equipped with such methods: group-work, activity-based learning and what not. Unfortunately, this is not the approach followed in most universities where advanced knowledge is generated before being handed down to schools and colleges. Therefore, despite having excellent methods, teachers and learners are usually stuck with content that doesn’t match the fun-loving spirit of a modern classroom.

The DNA of History consists of comprehensive outlines extracted from twenty years of research in classrooms and media. It offers content that did not originate in the dry atmosphere of universities and research institutions but was generated using the same methods that teachers, learners and the general public would like to use for acquiring it.

That is why we call it “the DNA”: you know that DNA is a compact code containing all the possibilities that may unfold in the future development of an organism. In this workshop we give you a few basic tips about history that can help you grasp the content of these subjects, teach them effectively and relate them easily to your own life.

PARTICIPANTS REQUIRE NO PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE: Otherwise, what would be special about this new technique, right?

THE OUTLINE OF HISTORY provided in this workshop offers a broad overview of the subject and takes you step by step through the process of internalizing it. Later, the same activities may be adapted by the learners for devising new ones or addressing their specific requirements.
