ASSET session titled "Let’s Learn Trade and Industry through Eight Multiple Intelligences" on Saturday, March 26, 2016

This month ASSET is organizing a session on the topic of trade and industry, which is a part of Social Studies curriculum.

Session’s objectives:
By the end of the session participants will be able to:

  Ø  Implement eight multiple intelligences while teaching trade and industry.
  Ø  Analyze the concept of trade and industry.
  Ø  Understand the commercial linkages of Pakistan with the world community and its significance for economic development along with its major imports and exports.
  Ø  Develop strategies to teach trade and industry by using any of the two intelligence.

Ms Sahar Damani is an enthusiastic person with excellent interpersonal skills and her passion is teaching. Currently she is doing her Bachelors in Education from Notre Dame Institute of Education. She has completed her Bachelors in Commerce in the year 2012 and worked as an Intern in Aga Khan Higher Secondary School, Karimabad. Along with that, since last four years, she is serving as an honorary teacher in a community centre.

Ms Neelofer Ali Executive Committee Member of EYLA, possesses Advanced Diploma in Human Development-Early Child Development from Aga Khan University. She has done her masters in Economics from Karachi University. She has an experience of more than nine years in the field of education. Currently she is working with Aman Foundation in the project name Teach for Pakistan. She has been affiliated with ITREB Pakistan for more than four Years as a teachers trainer. Moreover, she has been conducting teaching learning sessions at different schools.

She has also written various concept papers, articles and conducted training sessions for teachers. Currently, she is working as Teacher Educator in Ismaili Tariqah and Religious Education Board of Pakistan (ITREB, P).

She has been associated with the field of education for past 15 years. She has been carrying out a variety of professional development activities which include conducting workshops, short courses during summer break, providing on-going classroom-based support to teachers, reviewing test papers, helping teachers preparing their lesson plans, developing teaching-learning materials, and importantly doing classroom teaching as well.

Facilitator’s Profile:
Ms Isbah Mustafa belongs to the field of educational assessment. She has worked on classroom assessment, achievement tests, standardized tests, and evaluation studies. She develops and report assessment for all school levels. Through her work and research she argues for the use of assessment as a tool to make students prosper.
She has worked for UNESCO, American Institutes for Research, Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority, and The Aga Khan University-Examination Board. She is  a recipient of Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarship, Endeavour Executive Award, and the Fulbright Scholarship. These days, she is exploring the relationship of student achievement and motivation in her PhD from The University of Memphis-USA.
