The Professional Teacher Association Network (PTAN) was founded in mid 2002, with a support from Aga Khan University, Institute for Educational Development and Aga Khan Foundation, Pakistan. PTAN is a cluster of nine voluntary associations striving for the professional development of teachers/head teachers.

MAP workshop titled “Using Games in Mathematics Classrooms” on May 23, 2015

On behalf of MAP Executive Committee, we would
like to invite you to a MAP workshop on Saturday, May 23, 2015. Details
are as follows:
Title: “Using Games in Mathematics Classrooms”
Workshop Objectives:
By the end of the workshop the participants
will be able to:

Understand
and appreciate the use of games in a Mathematics classroom.

Develop
a game to teach a mathematical concept of their own choice and modify it with
the help of critique provided by the participants and facilitators.

About the Facilitator:
Ms Alina Benjamin
is currently pursuing her M.Ed. studies at the Notre Dame Institute of
Education (NDIE). Earlier, she has been working at the Aga Khan University
Examination Board as a Mathematics Specialist. She worked as a Mathematics
teacher at St. Patrick’s High School in the O-level and A-Level sections. She
has also served as a Lecturer of Mathematics and Statistics at St. Patrick’s
College for Men & Women and Lecturer of General Science at the NDIE.
Ms
Zehra Habib
has done her masters in Physics from Karachi University and MEd. from Notre
Dame Institute of Education (result
awaited). She taught at school and college level and conducted training on
several topics related with teaching learning process. Her major interest areas
are teaching, assessment, educational psychology and educational leadership.
Ms
Afeefa Afzal
is a qualified teacher, holding a BEd. from Notre Dame Institute of Education
(NDIE) with over 4 years of teaching experience. She also holds MSc. degree
with major in Human Development. She also worked as a teacher at St. Joseph’s
Convent School at a secondary level. Presently, she is working as a Lecturer in
a Govt. Islamia College for Women and also pursuing her MPhil. in Education
from Iqra University.
We would like to iterate that in order to provide
quality professional development to all valued members and to run this
association effectively we need your full support and punctuality. Since seats for the session are limited,

About the Facilitator:
Nousheen Gul has been working in
the field of rehabilitation for last fifteen years. She has worked both in
clinic and school setting. The knowledge of two major fields of rehabilitation
enables her to have a diversified approach towards developmental disabilities
and their management. In addition to the clinical knowledge, she is deploying
her skills in construction and implementation of Individualized Education Plan
along with designing and supervising the entire program of a center for
children with developmental disabilities.

Ms. Aatika Agha has done
Masters in Economics, Montessori Diploma and certification course in Early
Child Development. She has been conducting training sessions for NGOs and
miscellaneous community arrangements. She has worked collaboratively with
numerous educational institutes and has been called upon as a key presenter in
numerous educational training programs in the under privileged areas to create
awareness about modern methodologies and techniques of interactive classroom
skills and child’s holistic development. Furthermore, she has managed the
internal and external flow of communication within the organizations for
increased productivity.
