EYLA session title “Material Development” on July 4, 2015

On behalf of EYLA Executive Committee, we would like to invite you for the EYLA workshop to be held on Saturday, July 4, 2015.

Title:                                     Material Development

Objectives of the workshop
·                     What is constructive material development in Early Years
·                     Significance of material development
·                     Is material necessary in child’s development?
·                     How to use material effectively with young learners.

Timing :           From 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon.
Venue   :          Aga Khan University, Institute for Educational Development (AKU-IED)

Facilitator’s Profile:
Ms. Neelofer Mehdi, Executive Committee Member of EYLA, possesses Advanced Diploma in Human Development-Early Child Development from Aga Khan University. She has facilitated and conducted various educational courses especially on Pedagogies which include, Teaching Methods, Classroom Management, Lesson Planning, Storytelling, Mathematical Development, Integrated Learning, Child Psychology and Assessment.

Registration will start from Friday, July 3, 2015 at 8:30 a.m. Since seating at the workshop is limited, aspiring participants must confirm their participation at registration@ptan.org or phone # 36826991-4/ 36347611-4 Ext. 8554/8556. Available seating will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, and the registration will be closed once the workshop has been fully subscribed.

MAP session title “Engaging Teachers in Developing their Own Worksheets/Games for Teaching and Learning Algebra” on June 27, 2015

On behalf of MAP Executive Committee, we would like to invite you to a MAP workshop on Saturday, June 27, 2015. Details are as follows: 

Title:               “Engaging Teachers in Developing their Own Worksheets/Games for Teaching and Learning Algebra”

Workshop Objectives:          
By the end of the workshop the participants will be able to:

·         recall the concepts of basic Algebra and Algebraic expressions
·         incorporate their understanding and knowledge in developing worksheets and games
·         develop and understand the importance of teaching Algebra using worksheets and  games
·         get alternatives of assessing their teaching and students learning algebra using their own assessment tools

Audience:             Elementary and Secondary teachers

About the Facilitator:
Ms Shueb Sultan is currently working as Senior Research Assistant at the Aga Khan University Institute for Educational Development. He has done MSc. in Applied Physics from University of Karachi and MEd. in Mathematics Education from Aga Khan University Institute for Educational Development (AKU-IED). He has got experience of teaching mathematics at school and college level and facilitated workshops and Continuous Professional Education courses at AKU-IED and Aga Khan Schools. His areas of interest are teaching and learning using technology and educational research.
We would like to iterate that in order to provide quality professional development to all valued members and to run this association effectively we need your full support and punctuality. Facilitator’s Profile
Ms Tehmina Maknojia is a Pakistani artist. She has completed her Bachelors in fine arts from Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture. She demonstrates a history of excellent craftsmanship, aiming to make work that is interactive for everyone and not limited to gallery space.


She applies her skills to design and facilitate short and long-term arts workshops for teachers. Currently, she is working as art educator and freelance artist. She has participated in various exhibition and community based art projects. She has also worked as lead facilitator in various organizations and projects.

Brief Intro of the Facilitator:
Azmina Afzal, is a PhD scholar at Institute of Educational Management. She holds masters of Education from Hamdard University, an MPhil in Education and MBA in Educational Management from IOBM.  She has extensive experience of teaching, curriculum monitoring, teacher education, career guidance and management programs in variety of settings.  She works at Foundation Public School as an Academic Head and a Visiting Faculty at Institute of Business Management. Her research interests include exploring effective simulations of teaching and learning, curriculum development, teachers’ performance appraisal system, teachers' pedagogical knowledge and its influence on students' learning.
