ASSET Workshop titled "The DNA of Pakistan Studies"on Saturday, December 29, 2012

Dear Members,

It is a pleasure to inform you that this month ASSET is organizing a workshop on

The DNA of Pakistan Studies

A few basic tips for learning about the past, present and future of Pakistan

Rationale:

A few basic tips can help us organize our knowledge about the past, present and future of Pakistan. The workshop is based on extensive research by the resource person, some of which has been presented recently in 2012, The Battle for Marghdeen published by Libredux, UK.

Who should attend?

School teachers, administrators and curriculum designers – primarily from the subject of Pakistan Studies, but really the workshop is for everyone because the activities presented here are multi-disciplinary.

Components

§  Three theories about the creation of Pakistan – Invariably our perception of our roles in the Pakistani society depend on how we answer the question: Why Pakistan came into being? This component of the workshop looks at three of the most famous answers which emerged after the birth of Pakistan; and how our destiny may depend on the answer we choose.

§  The Seven Stage Theory: This is a way of looking at the journey of Pakistan through history in a dynamic manner, with a vision for the future. Through some simple activities, which can be easily replicated in all classrooms from Grade 6 to 16, participants will be given effective tools for organizing their knowledge about the past, present and (yes) future of Pakistan

§  Bringing a little fun to the classroom: This component consists of simple and interesting activities for incorporating the most popular and healthy elements of our culture, such as some of the national songs, into the classroom. The national anthem of Pakistan and the national song ‘Jeevay Pakistan’ are among the items which will be explored in this workshop for discovering new meanings (and depth) unknown before – surprises guaranteed!

§  Topic:           The DNA of Pakistan Studies.
       §  Date:             December 29, 2012
       §  Time:             9:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
§  Facilitator:     Mr. Khurram Ali Shafique, Research Consultant Iqbal Academy Pakistan, and Author of Iqbal: an Illustrated Biography (2006)

Kindly confirm your participation latest by Thursday, December 27, 2012, at registration@ptan.org or (36826991-4 Ext. 3203 / 3205), as this will facilitate us in organizing the workshop effectively.
