MAP- The Effective Use of Scientific Calculators

SAP- The Eighth SAP Science Olympiad

Dear Colleague,

The Science Association of Pakistan (SAP) is organizing its Eighth Science Olympiad for the students of class VIII on April 9, 2011 at The Aga Khan University - Institute for Educational Development (AKU-IED), Karachi.

The Olympiad is a part of our continual efforts to make teaching and learning of science enriching and rewarding experience for both students and teachers. Since the year 2011 is being celebrated as the International Year of Chemistry (IYC), SAP will also focus the IYC in this Olympiad.

As per the programme participating students will have an opportunity to perform a “Scientific Drama” in the following categories:

1. Historical perspective of chemistry with future linkages such as; time line, Muslim chemists.
2. Chemistry for life (chemistry at home and in industries i.e. chemical in medicines, agriculture, farming, transport, textile, etc.)
3. Colorful Chemistry / Nature of Chemistry
The drama will be based on Humour/Art/Act/Dialogue. The winners would be awarded with shields and certificate of participation would be awarded to all the participants.

An introductory workshop for providing guidelines for the Olympiad would be held at AKU-IED for which date will be communicated to the registered schools later on.

Please fill the attached form and send it along with the registration fee of Rs. 1,500/- (Cash or Pay Order) in the name of AKU-IED to PTAN Office by February 19, 2011.

Registration for SAP Olympiad:

• Registration fee for Class VIII is Rs. 1500/-
(For 3–5 Students & 1 Teacher).

• Registration fee for an additional teacher/student is Rs. 100/-

• Government schools would be allowed 50% discount.


Criteria to participate in the Eighth Science Olympiad

• The Olympiad will be held on April 9, 2011.

• Each Institute/School is invited to send 1 group of 3-5 students for science Olympiad from class VIII with ONE Science teacher/representative from the school.

• A jury will decide the winners, and its decision will be final.

• Individual SAP member can also attend the Olympiad on payment of Rs 100/-

• Last date for Registration is February 19, 2011.

AKU-IED MEd Admissions-Last Date:February 4, 2011

We are pleased to inform you that the Aga Khan University’s Admissions 2011 are open now. Above are details of individual entity’s academic programmes.

With respect to AKU-IED programme, in order to meet stakeholders’ needs, AKU-IED has restructured MEd programme including PART-TIME studies to provide greater access for candidates, particularly females. The programme will be offered in the morning, evening and during summer breaks depending on the availability of faculty and number of enrolled students.
