ASSET session titled "Effective Item Writing for Accurate Assessment" on June 28, 2014

Dear Members,

Creating effective tests is an essential task for all teachers for assessing student’s learning outcomes. If tests are not well constructed, assessment of students’ performance may be invalid. There are some important aspects which a teacher should keep in mind while designing a test paper. Keeping in view the importance of item writing, ASSET is organizing a session on good item construction in the month of June 2014. The details are as follows: 

Objective of the Programme:
By the end of the session the participants will be able to:

§     Differentiate between assessment and evaluation
§     Explain the concept of validity and reliability
§     Enhance their knowledge for designing MCQs, match the column and fill in the blanks
§     Develop better understanding of merits and demerits of MCQs, match the column and fill in the  blanks

Facilitator’s Profile
Ms. Kaneez Zainab is currently working as an Academic Coordinator at Aga Khan Higher Secondary School, Karachi. She has done masters in Science (Microbiology) from Karachi University. She has done 2 Advanced Diploma, one in Teaching Science and the other in Leadership and Management from Aga Khan University, Institute for Educational Development. She has been associated with the field of education for past 15 years. She has been carrying out a variety of professional development activities which include conducting workshops, short courses during summer break, providing on-going classroom-based support to teachers, reviewing test papers, helping teachers preparing their lesson plans, developing teaching-learning materials, and importantly doing classroom teaching as well.
