EYLA- Summer Course titled “Educating Young Children”

EYLA is offering a 50 hour summer course titled “Educating Young Children” for pre-primary and lower primary teachers. The course will emphasize on involving participants in role play, pair and group activities. This interactive course will equip the participant with knowledge about the ways to nurture young children.

Objectives:
Objectives of the course are as follow:
  • Knowledge and understanding of child development from zero to eight.
  • Enhance participants’ subject content knowledge through Early Childhood Curriculum Framework.
  • Provide an enabling classroom environment which includes active learning and free play.
  • Family structure and the role of parents, families and communities in shaping children’s development.
  • Practice and develop reflective thinking.
  • Enhance their understanding as to how to assess children.

Facilitators’ Profile

Samreen Jawaid is an Early Childhood Educational Development (ECED) graduate from Aga Khan University, Institute for Educational Development with 13 years of experience in dealing with young children. She has done MA in English Literature from Karachi University and In-Service Certificate in English Language Teaching (ICELT) from the Society of Pakistan English Language Teachers (SPELT). She has been conducting workshops for Early Years Learning Association (EYLA) for four years. She is currently working with one of the leading school.

Nadya Akram is an Early Childhood Educational Development (ECED) graduate from Aga Khan University, Institute for Educational Development. She has been working with early years teachers and young children for last eight years. She has also worked as an Academic Coordinator at the AL-Murtaza School. As a teacher trainer she has conducted workshops for different organizations.

Arif Karedia works as a Director Academics at Youth Enrichment Network Pvt. Ltd. and a Principal at YEN Academy. He has done MBA from Cyprus International University and also got certification in Early Childhood Development from Aga Khan University. He has conducted a number of sessions on teachers’ development on topics like Classroom Management, Language Development, Mathematical Development, Developing Environmental Knowledge, Active Learning etc. for various organisations which include Bahria University, Shia Imami Ismaili Tariqa and Religious Education Board, Early Years Learning Association and Pakistan Children Television. He is also an acting Chairperson of School Headteachers Association for Development of Education and an executive committee member of Early Years Learning Association. Currently, he is pursuing his M. Phil in education from Iqra University.

For registration, please fill in the attached form and submit it along with registration fee of Rs. 5,000/- (in cash or pay order, in the name of AKU-IED) to PTAN Office* between 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Tuesday-Saturday). Last date of registration is Saturday, June 23, 2012
