Details of the session are as follows:

Objectives of the workshop: 
  • Explore parenting styles and their effects

ASSET workshop titled "Relationship Centered Social Studies" on March 30, 2013

It is a pleasure to inform you that this month ASSET is organizing a workshop on Relationship Centered Social Studies.

Session objectives:
1.      Understand the value of children’s social development

Facilitator’s Profile:
Mr. Salman Asif Siddiqui is founder and director of Educational Resource Development Centre (ERDC), which is an institute of teacher training and material development in Pakistan. He has specialized in Educational Psychology. During his extensive experience of 18 years in the field of education, he has served the roles of a teacher, trainer, counselor, author and editor. He has over forty children’s books and teachers’ courses to his credit as author or editor. He has conducted hundreds of training workshops for teachers, trainers, school heads, parents and students all over the country in association with several public and private institutions. He has spoken to educational forums in Pakistan, Europe and UAE and worked for a number of leading national and international organizations. He has been invited by leading TV channels to talk on education and parenting. He has also received the Award for Professional Excellence from government of Pakistan. Based on his extensive and rich experience of working with parents, teachers and children, he has proposed a framework of holistic parenting which is consistent with our context and value system. His research work and ideas on parenting are being compiled in the form of a book ‘Five Dimensions of Holistic Parenting’.

SHADE workshop on " Understanding of Hidden Curriculum for School Leaders" on Saturday, March 30, 2013

Studies reveal that school experiences often lead to students' loss of self-esteem, unswerving obedience to silly rules, and the suppression of their individuality. One of the reasons is that schools usually exert all their efforts in imparting explicit (written) curriculum but neglect one very important curriculum which academicians have given the term “Hidden Curriculum”. Hence, this month’s SHADE session will be on the topic of “Understanding of Hidden Curriculum for School Leaders”.  The session will help participants to;
·         Explore the hidden curriculum
·         Aware of the influence of the hidden curriculum in educational processes
·         Determine their role as school leaders to manage the hidden curriculum

Ms. Husna Arif has attained double Masters from University of London, UK in Teaching and Muslim Societies & Civilization. She has been in the field of education for more than 12 years where she has extensively worked with reputable organizations as teacher, teacher educator and trainer for school leaders. She has conducted many training sessions for school leaders on Monitoring & Evaluation, Strategic Planning and Development of school plans. As a teacher educator, she has facilitated sessions on various topics such as emotional intelligence, bloom taxonomy, activity based teaching on different subjects, assessment methods, learning styles etc.  Currently, she is associated with Ismaili Tariqah & Religious Education Board for Pakistan (ITREB, P) as Educator.

PAIE Workshop titled “Adult Empowerment in Children’s Behaviour Issues” on Saturday, March 30, 2013

 PAIE is organizing an awareness raising workshop on behaviour issues. The aim of this workshop is to introduce modern concepts of adult empowerment on behavioural issues of a child, as parents and teacher needs access to information and available resources.
 Who Should Attend?
Mainstream and special educators, parents, and people with behaviour problem child or people interested in disability movement particularly those working with special or mainstream children can also gain good knowledge.

EYLA workshop on “World Around Me” on Saturday, March 16, 2013

About the workshop:
The workshop is designed to help early years teachers to introduce the concept of “World Around Me” with the help of directions and map reading skills. Focus would be given to the concept of different features of map, globe, simple directions, cardinal directions and symbols with the help of songs/poems, storytelling, drawings model making and role play. Through different activities teachers would be able to make their children understand basic physical features of land, differentiation of land mass and water, number of continents their shapes along with some facts related to the continents and people living over there, by exploring globe and maps.

Currently, she is pursuing her M.B.A in Educational Leadership and also engaged in a research study on “How to Initiate Writing in Students”.
